Defeat, Discouragement, and Depression - Don't Give Up!

Yea, that's what they all tell you, "Don't give up."

It was back in mid May, when my self-employment work source (I do web design and SEO) came to a screech. It hasn't picked back up yet, and I document that here now - 2 months. I've had a few jobs from prior clients, but nothing to keep me busy. I've had a few ups and downs, but always in communication with God, even if it was only to express my attitude.

The 5 Deadly D's

The 5 Deadly D's - link to post at blog.precept.org

 From The Five Deadly D's:

The enemy’s goal is to penetrate your line of defense. And if we don’t stop him by holding the line, then he’s going to come in like a flood with all of his other destructive weapons. He’ll drive a wedge into you with disappointment, then press in with discouragement, dejection, despair, and demoralization, which will mean defeat. He doesn’t have to kill you to win; he just needs to get you to stop fighting, to turn and run, to hide, to quit the battle.
The secret to victory, then, is to never allow a penetration!
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. - 1 Peter 5:8
This would be a good verse to memorize.

 Back to my story.

We've been able to get by on my wife's funding sources (she's retired), and local food banks. I just called St. Vincent De Paul this morning, and expect them with their generous food gift in like half an hour. They came & left; we have a FULL refrig & pantry.

So yea, there's been a bunch of days where I felt defeated, experienced discouragement, and got depressed. So far this week, I've managed to keep my thoughts positive; the Sunday sermon at Victory Church Prescott Valley helped a lot - it always does.

Attacks from Satan - that's where it all comes from: Defeat, Discouragement, and Depression - Don't Give In - don't allow penetration; and ALWAYS keep in touch with God! Below, I have placed the BEST reference for sustaining.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV), The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
